Waiting Room-Waiting Room
In this article on the Waiting Room, you will learn how to add patients with existing bookings to the waiting room, and how to create "Walk-in" appointments for patients who do not have a booking. At larger-size medical centers, most patients are walk-ins, and bookings are only usually made when a patient wants to see a specific provider.
To Add a patient to the Waiting Room from the Appointment Calendar, click Appointments to reveal the list of patients with appointments.
Click + to add the selected patient to the waiting room.
The selected patient will now be visible in your Waiting Room.
Walk-in appointments can be created for Existing Patients or New Patients.
Walk-in Appointments for Existing Patients
Click Walk-in to Add a New Walk-in Appointment.
This will open the walk-in appointment form.
Complete the first half of the Form with all the required details.
Click Patient Name and type in the first few letters of the patient's name.
The system will create a drop-down list of the closest matches.
Click the Patient Name to select the patient.
Click Save to complete the walk-in appointment form.
The walk-in appointment has been added to your Waiting Room.
Walk-in Appointments for New Patients
Click Walk-in to Add a New Walk-in Appointment.
This will open the walk-in appointment form.
Complete the first half of the Form with all the required details.
Click New Patient.
Fill in the New Patient form with all required details and click Save.
The walk-in appointment for the new patient has been added to your Waiting Room.
To Edit the Appointment of a patient that is in the Waiting Room, click the Patient's Name to reveal a list of options for the appointment.
Click Edit Appt to open the appointment form.
Update the appointment with all required changes and click Save.
To Open the Patient Details of the patient that is in the Waiting Room, click the Patient's Name to reveal a list of options for the appointment.
Click Patient Details to open the patient record.
This will open the MediRecords medical record belonging to that patient.
To Cancel the Appointment of a patient who is in the Waiting Room, click the Patient Name to reveal a list of options for the appointment.
Click Cancel Appt to reveal a drop-down list of options.
Select the Reason for Cancellation from the drop-down list to cancel the appointment.
The patient will be removed from the Waiting Room, and the appointment will be cancelled from the Appointment Calendar.
