In this article of My Health Record, you will learn how to use the NPDV (National Prescribing and Dispensing View), or Dispensing View, in My Health Record.
When a patient has prescription fulfilled at a pharmacy, if has a Medicare number associated with it, it will automatically be uploaded the patient's Dispensing View in My Health Record. The dispensing view is useful for reviewing a new patient's medication history, or confirming when their last prescription was dispensed to them.
To access the Dispensing View, open the patient's My Health Record, and look for NPDV in the Document Type column. You can sort the columns by document type by clicking on the column heading. When the grid is sorted by column heading, there will be an Up Arrow (ascending) or Down Arrow (Descending) next to the name of the column. The following example demonstrates this functionality using Document Type.
Click NPDV to open the dispensing view.
The dispensing view document displays the list of all prescriptions dispensed to the patient within a set date range. By default, the dispensing view document displays the last two years worth of dispensing data, and the data is grouped by Prescription.
To change the date range of the dispensing view, click the Calendar Icon in the From and To at the top page, and then click Get View.
To change grouping of the prescriptions, click Group By to reveal a drop-down list of grouping options. Click to select the grouping, and the dispensing document will refresh itself, and display the prescriptions according to the new grouping.
To print the dispensing document, click Print to open a print preview.
Check the page is going to the right printer destination, and then click Print.
