Drug Recipes
This article will cover how to create, view, edit and prescribe drug recipes.
What is a Drug Recipe?
A Drug Recipe is a custom combination of ingredients to create a new drug for prescription.
It is useful when a specific medication isn't available to prescribe or you wish to prescribe a custom medication.
How Do I Create a New Drug Recipe?
Navigate to Resources (click More -> Resources)
Click Drugs
Click Recipes
Click New Recipe
Complete the left-hand side of the form (Mandatory fields are highlighted in red)
Click Ingredient and type in a keyword (first few letters) to reveal a list of the closest matches in a drop-down list. Click to select the name of the ingredient.
Enter the Strength and Unit, and click Add to add the ingredient to the recipe.
Add additional ingredients by following the same process.
Click Comments to type a short description or use of the recipe.
Click Save to complete.
How Do I View a Preview of a Drug Recipe?
Navigate to Recipes (More > Resources > Drugs > Recipes), check the Tickbox next to the appropriate recipe name and click Preview Recipe.
How Do I Edit a Drug Recipe?
Navigate to Recipes (More > Resources > Drugs > Recipes), check the Tickbox next to the appropriate recipe name and click Edit Recipe.
Update the left-hand fields and Comments as you see fit and click Save.
How Do I Prescribe a Drug Recipe?
Navigate to Medications in the patient record (Open patient record > Clinical > Medications) and click New Rx.
Click on Product Name and select Recipe from the drop down menu.
Click the Recipe Name.
Click the Tick-Box next to the recipe you wish to prescribe, then click Next. The recipe's information will be listed below, like other medication.
Select the appropriate dosage information and click Next.

Fill in any other relevant information and click Prescribe to prescribe the recipe only or Prescribe and New to proceed to prescribe additional medication.
