Patient View: Sending a Bulk SMS to Patients from the Patient List

This article explains how to send bulk SMS messages to patients from the Patient Grid by creating a custom Patient View. This feature is useful if you would like to send appointment reminders on demand, filtered by provider and appointment date, instead of relying on the automatic SMS reminder schedule. This option is available to users who have access to the Patient Grid and SMS functionality.

You can send SMS reminders in bulk using the Patient Grid. To do this, you must first create a Patient View that filters patients by provider and appointment date.

Creating a Custom Patient View

You can create a new Patient View from the Patients Grid by selecting Views.

• Select Create New View or New View. You can also edit an existing View, but this guide will use creating a new one as an example.
  • Entity: Patient
  • Field: Usual Doctor
  • Operator: Equals
  • In the search field, look for any provider
• Apply an additional filter
  • Entity: Appointment
  • Field: Appointment Date
  • Operator: Next X Weeks
  • Enter the required timeframe in the next field.
• Save the view and give it a clear name, such as 'Dr Smith’s patients for the next three weeks'.
• Select Share to Practice so that everyone in your practice can access it.

Sending SMS on Demand

Once the view has been created, return to the Patients grid and select it.

Look through the patient list and tick the boxes beside the patients you want to send a message to, or tick the Select All box at the top of the list. 

Select More and then choose SMS on Demand.
 

The patients in your View will be automatically added to the To field. Choose a Template or type a custom message.
Select Send to deliver the SMS messages instantly.
