Re-prescribing medications is a common task, and MediRecords is designed to make it fast and effortless. Whether you need to quickly issue the same prescription again or make a small adjustment while keeping most details unchanged, re-prescribing tools help minimise clicks and reduce re-entry. This allows providers to focus on patient care rather than repetitive administrative work.
This article outlines the three available re-prescribing methods and when to use each one. By choosing the right option, you can generate prescriptions in seconds, maintain accuracy, and adapt to minor clinical changes without starting from scratch.

Re-Prescribing Methods
There are 3 methods available for re-prescribing a medication to a patient:
- ePrescribe and Print - will create an identical prescription with updated date information immediately. You will receive the token window to confirm the patient details and on submission, the token will be sent to the patient. If the original prescription were an authority prescription, you will be prompted for a new approval number on re-prescribing.
- Prescribe and Print - will create an identical prescription with updated date information immediately. You will receive the prescription preview window where you may print a copy for the patient. If the original prescription were an authority prescription, you will be prompted for a new approval number on re-prescribing.
- Edit & Re-Prescribe - copies all of the information from the selected prescription into a new prescription. This is helpful if the prescription you need to write is almost the same, but you need to change a small number of details such as the Dose or Instructions.
