Admissions: Understanding Medication & IV Charting

The Medication Chart supports a range of medication management workflows throughout a patient admission, including prescribing, administration, reconciliation, IV charting, and medication cessation.

Getting Started with the Medication Chart

Navigation

The Medication Chart contains several tools and indicators designed to help clinicians safely manage medications during an admission.

1. Change the chart view between 1, 3, or 7 days. 
2. Jump to today's date.
3. Move forward or backward through chart dates.
4. Select a specific date from the calendar.
5. Show or hide ceased medications on the chart.
6. Today's date is highlighted with a blue underline.
7. View and adjust the patient's height and weight.
8. Expand or collapse medication categories.

Medication Chart & Infusion List Colours & Icons

Due Administrations - Medications & Infusions
	A blank cell may be displayed in these scenarios: The infusion or medication is not due yet. The infusion was created with a Due date but no Due Time.
	The medication or infusion is overdue by more than 75 minutes.
	Displayed in the following scenarios: 75 minutes before administration time. At administration time. 75 minutes after administration time.
	The medication or infusion administration has been overdue for 24 hours or more.
Medication Administration
	Displayed for PRN medications that have not yet been administered.
	PRN medication administered. Displays the administering user’s initials, administration time, and dose given.
	Medication administered. Displays the administering user’s initials and administration time.
	Indicates a reason for a missed medication administration. Hover over the icon to view details.
Infusion Administration
	The infusion's Start Date/Time and the initials of the user who started the infusion.
