This article will cover how to create streamlined authority scripts when prescribing medications.
Streamlined Authority Medications are authority medications that do not require contact with the Department of Human Services before prescribing, only input of a code associated with that medication. In MediRecords, the code is automatically provided so the prescription process is almost identical to prescribing a no-authority-required medication.
To prescribe a medication, proceed to prescribe medication as normal through the patient's Clinical Tab, by clicking Medications then New Rx.
For a more detailed guide about prescribing medication, please refer to our article here.
After entering the medication in the Search Box, select the medication you wish to prescribe paying careful attention that the Restriction is Authority (Streamlined), then click Next.
Enter the required dosage information, then click Next.
The Standard, Complex and New buttons have been moved out of the drop-down menu, and instead created as tabs across the top of the Instruction pane.
*NOTE: When prescribing it is now mandatory to enter a dose in the dose field, this also applies to your complex instructions, you will still be required to make an entry in the dose field.
Enter the Condition Details as required, then select the Reason from the PBS Listed Indication Authority field.
The Indication for this Authority and Approval No. fields will automatically be populated.
Click Prescribe, then ePrescribe and Print to create an electronic script and to prescribe just this medication or Prescribe and New to prescribe this medication and begin prescribing a new medication.
The prescribed medication(s) will now be visible from the Current Rx tab.
