Medicare Claims Configuration
To claim from Medicare, you will need to configure MediRecords with certain files and information. These are known as the Medicare Site Certificates (fac_encrypt.p12 & fac_sign.p12) and your PIC (Personal Identification Code).
*NOTE: If you no longer have access to these certificates, contact Medicare directly on 1800 700 199 and request your PKI certificates to be re-issued. These certificates are a requirement and we cannot use the certificates loaded onto your server.
Click More and select Settings
Click Configuration Settings.
Within Configuration Settings, click on the practice that you wish to configure Medicare claims for. In this tutorial, we will select MediRecords Admin as an example.
Click Claiming to open the claiming configuration form.
Click PIC and type in your Medicare Personal Identification Code that you would have received in a letter after you received your certificates.
Navigate to P12 Certificate File (encrypt), and click Select File to open a file explorer window.
Navigate to the folder where your Medicare certificates are located, and select the file called fac_encrypt.p12 for upload.
Click Upload File to upload the certificate.
Once the certificate has been uploaded, there will be a message "100% done" next to it.
Navigate to P12 Certificate File (sign), and click Select File to open a file explorer window.
Navigate to the folder where your Medicare certificates are located, and select the file called fac_sign.p12 for upload.
Click Upload File to upload the certificate.
Click Activate Medicare PCS to reveal a drop-down list, and decide whether you want to store your patient claims to transmit at the end of the day (Yes) or transmit in real time (No).
(note: GAP payments are not permitted when PCS is turned on)
Check the form, and make sure you have filled in data for the Medicare Pass-Phrase, uploaded certificates for P12 Certificate File (encrypt) and P12 Certificate File (sign), and Activate Medicare PCS is set to Yes.
NOTE: Please wait at least two weeks before automating claims and reports. A MediRecords technician will be in contact with you to remind you to do this.
Once you have completed the check, click Save to apply the changes.
Once the claiming configuration has been saved, the system will automatically populate the Medicare - Sender field with the sender information. The Sender information is stored in your Medicare Certificate.
Please ensure you link your provider number to your minor site ID before you start claiming.
You've completed another MediRecords Tutorial. You should now be able to configure your practice for Medicare claiming within MediRecords.
