Managing Security Privileges
In MediRecords, the user Security Privileges are dictated by the Security Roles, which are dependent on your subscription plan. While these come with preset options, you have the ability to reduce or increase permissions.
This tutorial will explain and demonstrate the functions you can use to manage the security privileges of your users.
To view Security Roles:
1. Click More and select Settings.
2. Click on Security.
You will be taken to the Security Roles page. Each user in your practice will be assigned one of these roles, which dictates their permissions.
Note that the Practice Owner Security Role cannot be altered or edited. There must be at least one user on your MediRecords subscription with this security role.
To demonstrate, we will click into the Doctor role. Hover your cursor until you see View, and click.
You will be shown the Security Privileges inside this role.
The Security Privileges are divided into nine separate sections:
Accounts
Relates to Accounts Payable, Expenses, Expense Journal, and Assignments.
Appointments
Relates to Appointments, Consulting Rooms, Sessions (opening hours), and Holidays.
Billing
Relates to Accounts Receivable, Payments, Invoices, Bulk Billing Claims and Reports, and Adjustments.
Clinical
Relates to Clinical Data, including Allergies, Immunisations, Demographics, Hospitalisations, Pregnancies, and other Medical History.
General
Relates to Activities, such as Clinical Actions and Tasks.
Patients
Relates to Patient Records, including creating New Patients, Alcohol / Smoking Status, Family History, and Social Habits
Resources
Relates to Contacts, Service Providers, Sub-specialities, Drug Recipes, Clinical Templates and Drawings, Patient Education, and Letter Templates.
Settings
Relates to Bank Accounts, Auditing, Item Schedules, Notice Board Settings, and Security Roles
Subscription
Relates to Practices, Users, MediRecords Modules, Biographies, and Qualifications
Each section has Items which dictate what the user can do.
Create - create new records
Read - read/view existing records
Update - update existing records
Delete - delete existing records
All - can perform all of the above actions
None - no access to these records allowed
We will now demonstrate the editing of a Security Privilege. Click the back arrow to go back to the Security Roles page.
Click on the Allied Health Professional Security Role.
You will now be viewing the Security Privileges for this Security Role.
To update a Security Privilege, check the relevant box to add or remove privileges for that item.
We will edit the Expense item (Accounts > Expenses) so that any user with the Allied Health Professional role can view this section. Check the box for Read and click Save.
You will receive this confirmation message if successful. Click OK to proceed.
This Security Role has now been updated.
