MediRecords has the ability for Providers to prescribe Rapid Antigen Tests for Covid-19 via e-Prescribing. This will allow the patient to be tested and have proof of their outcome via SMS in a contactless consultation. To follow are the steps to complete this consultation:
Create the Rapid Antigen Test in Drug Recipes
Firstly, you will need to create the description of the Rapid Antigen Tests in MediRecords for prescribing. For this function, you can use our Drug Recipes to enable the tests to be prescribed. Follow these instructions on creating a drug recipe – Drug Recipes, once this item is saved in your Drug Recipes, you will not have to create it again.
e-Prescribe the Rapid Antigen Test
You can now e-prescribe the test to the patient. To e-Prescribe, follow these steps – How to e-Prescribe, note, instead of selecting Product Name in the first drop down in the prescribing process, you will need to select Drug Recipes. Once this is completed, the patient will receive a text or email with the QR code for a Rapid Antigen Test.
Create an SMS Template for test results
Once a test has been completed and you have a result, you will need to confirm with the patient that they have returned a negative result, or communicate to them that they will need further testing. You can create SMS templates within MediRecords which will allow you to quickly SMS on Demand a patient to advise them of their outcome. To do this, follow this article on creating an SMS template – Creating SMS Templates and this one which will help you to send the template to the patient with their results – How to Send an SMS on Demand
Once this process has been completed, you can also re-prescribe the prescription for further Rapid Antigen Tests to be provided to the patient, instead of repeating the entire process again. You can find out how, here – How to Re-Prescribe a Prescription
