The Pharmacy field is used to record the name of a patient’s preferred pharmacy for dispensing. This field only appears when prescribing in New South Wales, as it is a legislative requirement in certain circumstances. If prescribing from any other state, the field will not be visible.
When a pharmacy is selected, the name of that pharmacy will be displayed on the script. However, this does not restrict the patient to that pharmacy - they can still have the script filled elsewhere. Choosing a pharmacy also does not automatically send the script to the nominated pharmacy. Instead, it simply records the preferred pharmacy in the national script exchange.
To use this field, open the Contact Service Provider dropdown, which is filtered to show pharmacies only. If the required pharmacy does not appear in the list, it must first be added to your tenant’s contact book before it can be selected.
