Consumer Medicine Information (CMI) and Product Information (PI) documents support safe and informed medication use. CMIs are written for patients and explain how to take a medicine, possible side effects, and what to expect, while PIs are designed for healthcare providers to help assess whether a medication is clinically appropriate. Together, they support informed decision-making and effective patient communication.
When available, CMI and PI documents can be viewed or downloaded directly from the medication product in MediRecords. Availability depends on information provided by the TGA, so not all medications will have associated documents accessible within the system.

Viewing CMI & PI Documents
If a CMI or PI document is available for a medication, it can be downloaded or viewed through the Product by clicking on the respective buttons.
The first is available within the prescribing modal:
The second is available above the Medications list within a patient record:
Missing CMI & PI Documents
If a CMI or PI document is available for a medication, the button will be enabled after you have selected a drug. If a document is not available, the buttons will be disabled.
There can be a few reasons why a CMI or PI document is unavailable, as we import them from the TGA:
- The document doesn't exist in the TGA API response
- The medication doesn't have a TGA ID
- The TGA does not have a document for the medication
Note: The TGA have mentioned that the PI and CMI documents are available on their website, but it is not intended to be an exhaustive list.
If you suspect that we should have a copy of a document, please reach out to our friendly support team for assistance; support@medirecords.com.
