The Interested Parties feature in MediRecords makes it easier for specialists to manage communication with a patient’s wider care team. By keeping an up-to-date list of GPs, specialists, and other providers who should receive correspondence, you can ensure that the right people always stay informed about your patient’s care. This reduces administrative follow-up and helps streamline the flow of clinical information across practices.
In this article, you’ll learn how to manage Interested Parties within the patient demographics and use the Letter Writer widget to quickly select and send correspondence to them. From setting a patient’s usual GP, to automatically linking referrers and interested providers when generating letters, this feature supports better continuity of care and saves time for your practice.
Interested Parties and Letter Writer Widget
Within the Patient Demographics, there is a table in the Referral tab called Interested Parties. This feature enables you to keep track of external doctors who want to receive correspondence regarding the patient.
When a new Referral is created, an Interested Party is automatically created. These interested parties are defined as service providers and health professionals with an interest in receiving correspondence regarding the patient. An interested party can be added using the (+) element.
There should only be one usual GP selected and you are able to set the usual GP by ticking the check box (as represented by 3 below). Once the Interested Party is selected click on Save and either select from the menu options Save or Save and New.
The usual GP will default to the top of the Interested Party list.
When a GP appears both on Referral Table and the Interested Parties table, they are labelled as a referrer.
When creating a letter to send to a GP or Specialist (the letter creation Knowledge base article can be found here
The (+) icon can be hit next to the two fields. This will open the Interested Parties and Referrer widget. This displays a list of Providers that appear on the Interested Parties table.
Selecting a provider from the list will populate the To field. Now you are ready to compose your letter and send it to the relevant Interested Parties.
