Capturing a patient’s alcohol consumption is an important part of their social and medical history in MediRecords. Recording this information helps providers assess lifestyle risk factors, support preventative health measures, and tailor treatment plans to individual needs.
In this article, you will learn how to complete an alcohol assessment and update a patient’s record with accurate drinking details.
Completing an Alcohol Assessment
- Open the patient record
- Make sure you are in the "Details" tab
- Click Alcohol
- Click Assessment Date and enter the date
- Select the patient's drinking status (Non Drinker, Ex-Drinker, or Drinker), then complete the relevant fields:
- For a current drinker, complete Current Alcohol Intake: Year Started, Frequency, Standard Drinks Per Day, how often they have six or more standard drinks on one occasion, and whether they are interested in quitting.
- For an ex-drinker, complete Previous Alcohol History: Year Started and Year Stopped.
- Click Save to apply the changes.
