The Practice Incentives Program Quality Improvement Incentive (PIP QI) is an Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing incentive that rewards general practices for using data to support quality improvement activities. This article explains how MediRecords provides your practice's PIP QI data, not the eligibility rules or payment structure of the programme itself, for those, see the Further Information links below.

What Is PIP QI?
PIP QI is a quarterly incentive payment available to eligible general practices, based on data submitted to your local Primary Health Network (PHN). Eligibility rules, payment amounts, and how to apply or withdraw are set by the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, not MediRecords, see Further Information below for the official programme guidelines.
How MediRecords Provides Your PIP QI Data
MediRecords prepares your practice's PIP QI extract and provides it to you each reference period, there is no menu, report, or dashboard within MediRecords for practices to generate this themselves.
If your practice needs to start receiving PIP QI data, or needs to update who at your practice receives it, contact your Customer Success Manager or email support@medirecords.com.
Quarterly Reference Periods
PIP QI data is assessed and submitted to your PHN across four reference periods each year:
| Reference Period | PHN Submission Deadline | Typical Payment Month |
|---|---|---|
| August – October | 15 October | November |
| November – January | 15 January | February |
| February – April | 15 April | May |
| May – July | 15 July | August |
These deadlines are set by the Department, not MediRecords. If you're concerned about receiving your data in time for an upcoming deadline, contact your Customer Success Manager.
If You Haven't Received Your Data
If your practice is expecting PIP QI data for the current quarter and hasn't received it, contact your Customer Success Manager or email support@medirecords.com and we'll follow this up for you.
