Publishing Results from the Inbox
You can quickly and easily publish results from the Inbox during your Result Checking workflow.
There are multiple methods available to you.
Publication Methods
During Checking
If you normally check your results using the Checked drop-down menu, then you can continue to do this. After you have checked the result, you will receive a pop-up confirming whether the result should be published to Engage:
- Cancel will return you to the Inbox without checking or publishing the result.
- Check and Mark as Confidential will check the result, and mark it as confidential, which will prevent the patient from viewing it within Engage.
- Check but do not Publish will check the result, but will not publish it to Engage for the patient to review.
- Check and Publish will check the result, and publish it to Engage for the patient to view.
Check & Mark Normal Button
By clicking this button, the result will be marked as Checked, have the Result Status of Normal applied, and it'll be published to Engage for the patient to view. You should only use this button if the Result is Normal, and you are happy for the patient to view it.
Avoiding Publication
If you would like to check the result, but do not want to publish it to Engage, you have a few options.
- Check the result, but when you receive the pop-up about publishing to Engage, select either Check and Mark as Confidential or Check but do not Publish - whichever is most appropriate.
- Open the More menu on the result, and un-tick Publish to Engage before checking the result. This will allow you to check the result without publishing the record for the patient to view.
- Open the More menu on the result, un-tick Publish to Engage, and tick Confidential before checking the result. This will skip publication.
Note: the confidential function will also hide the contents of that result from other providers, so it may not be appropriate depending on the situation.
Publishing Results from the Results Grid
You can publish any result record to Engage directly from the patient's Results grid. This is helpful for publishing a record after discussion with a patient, if a result wasn't published correctly, or if you need to publish Results you have manually uploaded to the patient.
Note: Only Checked results may be published to Engage. If the Result record is not Checked, you will need to Check the result first. You can do this by selecting the Result in the grid, and selecting More > Checked.
- Open the patient's Clinical Record
- Open the Investigations tab
- Select a Result that has been Checked
- Open the More menu
- Click Publish to Engage
The Result will then be published to Engage for the patient to view.
Publishing Historical Results from Prior to Engage
If you would like to publish all historical results to Engage for your patients, we are able to undertake this on your behalf. There are a few caveats to this that you should know first.
Confidential Results
All results not marked as Confidential will be published if you choose to take up this option. This means, if you previously didn't use the Confidential function for results you wanted to hide from the patient, then these results will be published as well.
You can check whether a Result is Confidential via the patient's Results Grid. If there is a Lock icon in the final column of the grid beside the Result, then the Result is currently confidential, and cannot be published.
MediRecords Mobile App
If you previously used the MediRecords Mobile App and would like your patients to see all of the Results in Engage that they did in the Mobile App, then you will need us to assist with syncing your old data. Please note, as mentioned above, all Results not marked as Confidential will be synced to Engage.
If you are interested in publishing historical results, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager, or the team on success@medirecords.com for further information.
Checking when a Result was Published
If you aren't sure whether you have already published a result, or would like to check when it was published, you can find this information in the patient's Results grid.
Hover over the icon in the final column of the grid to display information on its publication:
Removing Published Results from Engage
If you have published a result by mistake or need to remove it, you can mark the Result as Confidential. This will remove the result from Engage.
Note: Marking the result as Confidential will hide its contents from other providers in the practice as well.
- Open the patient's Results grid
- Click on the Test Name to open the Result record
- Tick the Confidential box
- Click Save
- The record will then be removed from Engage, and the Published By information in the Information Icon will have been removed.
