This guide explains how to work with Attachments in a patient’s clinical record. It covers where attachments are stored, how to view previously uploaded files, how to add new documents to a consultation, and the process for deleting attachments (including required permissions). Use this article when you need to manage patient-provided or externally sourced files to ensure they’re correctly saved, visible in the record, and handled securely.

Viewing Uploaded Attachments
Uploaded attachments are held within a patient's clinical record, within the Attachments tab.
- Open a patient record
- Navigate to the Clinical tab
- Click the Attachments tab
The list of Attachments will display the Uploaded Date, File Name, and User that uploaded the record.
The Past Consultations grid also displays an attachment icon beside consult records that have attachments:
Uploading an Attachment to a Consultation
Occasionally you may need to attach a document to a consultation that a patient has provided, or that you have downloaded or received via another source. Attachments can be uploaded in the Today's Notes area of the clinical record.
- To upload a file, click the paperclip icon beside the Today’s Notes header.

Select the file you would like to upload, and click Insert
- The Attachment will then be added to the current Today's Note, and the patient's Attachments grid.
Supported File Types
The files that can be uploaded to a consultation are listed when hovering over the information icon within the Upload modal:
- Text: doc, docx, xls, xlsm, txt, csv, xml
- Image: pdf, jpeg, png, jpg, tiff
- Video: mp4, mpeg, avi, mov, wmv, mkv
Deleting Attachments
- Open the Attachments grid
- Tick the box beside the file you wish to remove
- Click the Delete button
- Click Yes on the confirmation prompt
- The file will then be permanently removed from the patient's clinical record.
