Security roles in MediRecords are used to manage and assign access levels for users within your subscription. These roles determine what each user can see and do, including which areas of MediRecords they can access and what administrative changes they can make.
When you first register your account, your user name is automatically assigned the role of Practice Owner. This role carries the highest level of access, allowing you to create new users, configure the appointment calendar, and complete other key administrative tasks included in the Practice Setup Guide. Every tenancy must have at least one user with the Practice Owner role.
When new users are registered, they are assigned a default security role based on their user category. This ensures they have the access required for their day-to-day tasks. If needed, you can adjust a user’s access by assigning them a new role. Changing a user’s security role does not affect their category but simply updates what they can access.
For example, it is common for a Practice Owner to grant their Practice Manager full administrative rights by changing their role from Practice Manager to Practice Owner. This adjustment is made by updating the user’s security profile within User Settings.
