The Appointments module in MediRecords allows you to book, view, and manage appointments for both new and existing patients directly from the appointment calendar. This article covers how to view a patient's appointment history and how to create new appointments from any available entry point in the system.

Viewing a Specific Patient's Appointments
This section explains how to view a patient's appointment history and upcoming bookings.
- Hover over an appointment in the appointment book to display a summary of the patient's current and upcoming appointments.
- Navigate to the Appointments screen.
- Enter the patient's name in the search box beside the Day / Agenda / List tab.
- Ensure that all dates and provider checkboxes are selected.
- Review the Agenda view to see both past and upcoming appointments for the patient.
Appointment Creation Locations
There are four places in MediRecords where you can create a new appointment.
- Click +Appointment from the Quicklinks bar.
- Click New Appointment from the Appointments tab.
- Click a time slot directly in the appointment calendar.
- Click New Appointment from the Quick Actions bar inside a Patient Record.
Creating an Appointment for a New Patient
Follow these steps to create an appointment and a new patient record at the same time.
- Click New Appointment or select a timeslot in the calendar.
- Click New to open the New Patient Appointment form.

Complete all required fields in the form and click Save.
ℹ️ Note:
- The list of available Appointment Types is sourced from your practice's available appointment types.
- SMS reminders can be sent instantly or up to 7 days prior to the scheduled appointment. SMS messages will only be sent if you have available SMS credit and the patient has a valid mobile contact number listed.
- The appointment will appear in the provider's calendar.
- A new patient record will be created automatically.
Creating an Appointment for an Existing Patient
Follow these steps to book an appointment for a patient who already has a record in MediRecords.
- Click New Appointment or select a timeslot in the calendar.
- Type the patient's name in the Patient Name field, select the correct patient from the suggested list, complete all required fields, and click Save to confirm.

The appointment will now appear in the appointment calendar for the selected provider.
ℹ️ Note: The patient will receive an email confirming the booking if email reminders are enabled in the Provider's Preferences.
